In 2025, we successfully completed the modernization of the water treatment plant serving Coicuba and the surrounding communities. The project included the detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up of a new ammonium and arsenic removal system as part of the plant's water treatment process. The primary objective of the project was to improve drinking water quality and ensure a reliable, long-term supply of safe drinking water for the local population.

The upgraded water treatment plant has a treatment capacity of 792 m³/day, enabling it to efficiently meet the water demand of Coicuba and the neighboring settlements. The project involved the implementation of advanced water treatment technology designed to effectively remove both ammonium and arsenic from raw water. During the engineering phase, particular emphasis was placed on maximizing the use of the existing infrastructure while improving operational reliability, treatment efficiency, and flexibility to accommodate variations in raw water quality.

Construction works included the installation of new process equipment together with the integration of mechanical and electrical systems. Following commissioning and performance testing, the plant demonstrated full compliance with the applicable drinking water quality standards. Applied Technology The project utilizes a regenerable adsorbent-based drinking water treatment technology, providing a modern and cost-effective alternative to conventional treatment methods. The specially developed adsorbent media continuously removes arsenic from the water stream while ensuring stable water quality, low operating costs, and sustainable long-term operation. Thanks to the long service life of the adsorbent media and its low-cost chemical regeneration process, operating expenses are significantly reduced.

Unlike single-use adsorption media, the system eliminates the need for frequent replacement and disposal of exhausted filter material as hazardous waste. As a result, the technology minimizes waste generation while delivering both economic and environmental advantages compared to traditional, chemical-intensive treatment processes. Project Outcome As a result of the completed modernization, the water treatment plant is capable of providing a continuous and reliable supply of high-quality drinking water that fully complies with current regulatory requirements.

The upgraded treatment system enhances public health protection, supports sustainable water management practices, and improves the long-term operational reliability of the water supply system. The implemented solution represents a modern, environmentally responsible, and cost-efficient approach to drinking water treatment for the region.
