Successful PurAID® project in Ghana

Content

The trial period of our first project in Ghana, the PurAID®modular, mobile, pallet-based water purification plant in Akim Wenchi, has been successfully completed. The PurAID® will be used to remove iron and manganese contaminants as well as disease-causing bacteria from the water of the public wells in the town of 12,000 inhabitants.

Our WHO-compliant drinking water facility with a daily capacity of 10 m3 is equipped with our own adsorbents and filter media, which do not require the use of harmful chemicals, so the environmentally harmless backwash water can be discharged into the stormwater drainage system.

A key element in the operation of the machine is the monitoring system that has been developed to ensure a trouble-free operation of the equipment in remote mode. If the system detects a fault that threatens the safety of drinking water, it will automatically stop until maintenance work is carried out.

Our first test site in Africa was run in partnership with the Community Water Sanitation Agency (CWSA), the organisation responsible for rural water supply in Ghana, and is operated with the active participation of local colleagues.

Following a successful trial period, the 10,000 liter/day capacity plant provides 12,000 local residents with healthy, clean, high-quality drinking water, replacing the previous metallic-smelling, cloudy water.
